YMCA Gaynor Child Development Center
The YMCA Gaynor Child Development Center opened its doors to 123 children on January 7, 2009. This center is in addition to the existing YMCA’s Child Development Center on the campus of the Greater Naples YMCA and Early Learning Center on the campus of Veterans Memorial Elementary School. With the opening of the Gaynor Center, the YMCA is now one of the largest providers of child care in Collier County, caring for over 260 children ages 4 months – 5 years each day.
The YMCA has a reputation of providing exceptional child care and 92% of the children enrolled in the Gaynor Center learn the skills they need to be ready for kindergarten. By developing the skills children need to become strong readers and students at an early age, children are more likely to be successful in school. The YMCA offers high-quality programs that include high literacy standards, developmentally appropriate curricula, manageable class sizes, and qualified teachers. The YMCA of the Palms believes in providing these life changing and defining opportunities for everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. 56% of the children enrolled in our Gaynor Center receive financial assistance, made possible by the Naples Children & Education Foundation and other generous donors throughout our community. In addition, our efficient operations return 94% of every child care dollar back in to the program.
Our History
The YMCA Gaynor Center is named after Mrs. Lavern N. Gaynor who leads by example with a family legacy that exemplifies philanthropic giving. Her lifelong passion and support for children and education has helped countless families and individuals in Collier County. Mrs. Gaynor is the epitome of a dedicated, caring member of our community who has committed resources, passion, energy and personal time to improving our community for all residents.
The YMCA Gaynor Child Development Center is located in the former Teddy Bear Museum. In 2007, the YMCA of the Palms purchased the property, adjacent to the Greater Naples YMCA, to build a much needed day care center. Since opening the Gaynor Center, the YMCA has increased the number of children and families we serve. Even with the new Gaynor Center opening, and the YMCA currently serving 250 children in three operating child care centers, the YMCA still has a waiting list of 176 children with 67% requesting scholarship assistance.
Unique Opportunity
There are still naming rights available at this time where you could be recognized in perpetuity at the YMCA. This is a unique opportunity to create a meaningful impact in Southwest Florida.
